Canada 1842 — Bank of Montreal Penny Token

$39.00

One of the classics of Canadian token coinage — a Bank of Montreal one penny bank token of 1842, Province of Canada (Charlton PC-2), struck in Birmingham for Canada's first bank. The obverse shows the Bank of Montreal's head office building; the reverse carries the bank's shield — the first coat of arms of Montreal, with the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the shamrock of Ireland and the beaver of Canada — under the motto CONCORDIA SALUS ("prosperity through harmony"), which the Bank of Montreal still uses today. A big, heavy copper that did real work for decades before Confederation. Honestly worn with smooth, even surfaces and pleasing detail on the bank building; one small verdigris spot by PENNY, as shown in the photos. The cornerstone token of any Canadian collection — 184 years old and still handsome.

PL:

Jeden z klasyków kanadyjskich żetonów monetarnych — jednopensowy żeton bankowy Bank of Montreal z 1842 roku, Prowincja Kanady (Charlton PC-2), wybity w Birmingham dla pierwszego banku Kanady. Awers przedstawia siedzibę Bank of Montreal; rewers niesie tarczę banku — pierwszy herb Montrealu z różą Anglii, ostem Szkocji, koniczyną Irlandii i bobrem Kanady — pod dewizą CONCORDIA SALUS („dobrobyt przez zgodę"), której Bank of Montreal używa do dziś. Duża, ciężka miedź, która przez dekady przed Konfederacją wykonywała prawdziwą pracę. Uczciwie wytarty, o gładkich, równych powierzchniach i przyjemnym detalu budynku banku; jedna mała plamka patyny przy PENNY, jak widać na zdjęciach. Żeton-kamień węgielny każdej kolekcji Kanady — ma 184 lata i wciąż jest przystojny
