Great Britain 1940 — One Shilling George VI, Silver
British one shilling of George VI, dated 1940 — the Battle of Britain year. This is the English reverse: a crowned lion standing proudly on the royal crown, with FID DEF IND IMP around ("Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India" — a title dropped from the coinage a few years later, in 1948). Silver .500 fine, 5.66 g, 23.5 mm. KM# 853. Honestly circulated with even grey toning and good, honest detail in the lion and crown (please see the photos) — a shilling that jingled in pockets right through the Blitz. Wartime British silver at an entry-level price, perfect for a George VI type set or a WWII collection.
PL:
Brytyjski szyling Jerzego VI z 1940 roku — roku bitwy o Anglię. To rewers angielski: ukoronowany lew stojący dumnie na koronie królewskiej, wokół FID DEF IND IMP („Obrońca Wiary, Cesarz Indii" — tytuł zniknął z monet kilka lat później, w 1948). Srebro próby 500, 5,66 g, 23,5 mm. KM# 853. Uczciwie obiegowy, z równą szarą patyną i dobrym, szczerym detalem lwa i korony (proszę zobaczyć zdjęcia) — szyling, który brzęczał w kieszeniach przez cały Blitz. Brytyjskie srebro wojenne w cenie na start — idealne do typu Jerzego VI lub kolekcji II wojny światowej
